Studies to understand the mechanistic role of acetyl 11 keto and#946; boswellic acid in modulating the chain of molecular events involved in benzo apyrene induced lung carcinogenesis

Abstract

The study was conducted to understand the chemopreventive role of Acetyl-11-keto-betaboswellic acid in modulating the molecular events involved in Benzo(a)pyrene induced lung newlinecarcinogenesis in SD female rats. The investigations revealed that Boswellic acid supplementation regulates the activities of biotransformation and antioxidant enzymes that result in reduction of oxidative stress during initiation and promotion of carcinogenesis. Further, Boswellic acid modulates the membrane dynamics including inflammatory pathways which are the hallmarks of lung carcinogenesis and also induces apoptosis. Therefore, the study concludes that Boswellic acid is a potential candidate in affording chemoprevention during conditions that lead to lung carcinogenesis. newline newline
