Abstract
Traditionally biomarkers are used to monitor and investigate the
newlineprogression of diabetic nephropathy. Recent studies showed advanced
newlinebiomarkers which are significantly increased in type 2 diabetes mellitus and
newlineserve as early biomarkers for glomerular and tubular functions. Apart from
newlinethese biomarkers, recently genome-wide associations are discovered and
newlinealso several novel genetic variants associated with diabetic nephropathy.
newlineElucidating of such genes may be useful for early identification of at-risk
newlineindividuals. The present study emphasizes molecular mechanism of sirtuin 1
newlinesnp s rs 3818292 and rs10823108 in diabetic nephropathy. To fill this gap, the study was undertaken to address the impact of genetic events in diabetic nephropathy in south Indian population.
