| dc.description.abstract | Ayurveda is a blessing to mankind. Principles of Ayurveda are companions at newlineevery step of life. It evolved with the evolution of mankind. Probably discovery of newlineAgnitatwa (Fire) is the most productive and historical evolution for mankind. Most newlineAncient literature Vedas have evidenced the use of the various dietary and medicinal newlineplants which pinpoint different traditions of dosage forms. The importance of newlineBheshaj(Medicine) is very well mentioned in Rugveda1. newline Bheshaj (Drugs) is the most important Pillar among Chatushpad (Four Pillars) newlineof Chikitsa2 (Treatment). Although many plant-based drugs and dosage forms are newlinestated in Veda, exact preparation techniques are scarcely mentioned rather it is not newlinetermed or defined. Basic categorization of the dosage forms is done in the Samhita newlineperiod only. Ayurveda has classified these dosage forms as newlinePanchvidhakashayakalpana (Five Basic dosage forms) in Bhaishjya Kalpana. All newlineplant based formulations are categorized under Bhaishjya Kalpana which literally newlinemeans different forms of the formulation. newline | |
