dc.description.abstractABSTRACT newlineThe study of Indian banking sector occupies an important lace in development of economy in India, and it is related to close and critical study of various measures observed in the operation of business and management organization. The present study described three types of analytical aspects of performance of Indian banking sector i.e., Productivity, profitability and financial efficiency. newlineBanking sector reforms in India, strive to increase profitability, productivity and efficiency of the banking institutions. The existing banking institution have to face the global competitions. As a consequence, there has not only been rapid expansion in the number of banking intuitions in the country, but the baking horizon of the country has also changed significantly with the entry of new private sector and public sector banks. nowadays the country has public and private sector are operating in India and giving throat completion to each other. The study emphasis on comparative analysis of financial performance using CAMEL model with reference to two public and private sector banks. newlinePublic Sector banks newline1. State bank of India 2. Punjab National Bank newlinePrivate Sector Banks newline1. ICICI Bank Ltd 2. HDFC Bank Ltd newlineData collected for the period of 10 years from 2010-11 to 2018-2019. During the period of the study the statistical tool mean, standard Deviation are used to analyses and test hypothesis T - test is applied. newlineThe study is divided into six chapters. The first chapter describes the introduction to the study, the second chapter focuses on the trends and progress of banking in India. The third chapter focus on the operational performance select banks. The fourth chapter describes financial performance of the banks using CAMEL model testing of relationship between the public and private sector banks.
