dc.description.abstractABSTRACT newlineBackground and Aims: The overreliance on internet-based platforms has led newlineto significant psychosocial challenges, including various mental health issues. newlineMindfulness-based interventions (MBIs), with their focus on self-regulation, have newlinebecome an effective method for addressing both substance and non-substance-related newlineaddictions, such as internet and smartphone addiction. Given the rise of technology newlinerelated disorders like internet gaming disorder, this study aims to explore the efficacy newlineof mindfulness-based interventions. Methods: Adolescents meeting the criteria for newlineinternet gaming disorder were divided into two groups: a control group (n=22) and newlineExperimental Group (n=21). The intervention group participated in an 8-session newlinemindfulness program, conducted weekly over a two-month period. Baseline newlineassessments were carried out in the first week using the Internet Gaming Disorder newlineScale, Visual Analogue Scale, Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), and newlinethe Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). Post-intervention assessments were newlineconducted at the 8th week, followed by a two-week follow-up evaluation. Results: newlineThe results indicated a significant decrease in addiction scores in the intervention newlinegroup compared to baseline assessments along with other variables internet cravings, newlineemotional regulation particularly through reappraisal.
