| dc.description.abstract | A simple remote aliquoting system (RAS) and a remote titration newlinesetup were developed for the remote analyses of highly radioactive newlinesamples inside a hot cell. The remote calibration of the RAS by a newlinetitrimetric method was validated and the systematic error and random error newlineof the RAS were found to be less than 1%. newlineA remote adaptable titration procedure was developed for the free newlineacidity determination of solutions containing uranyl nitrate and plutonium newlinenitrate without the addition of complexing agents. In this procedure, the newlinetotal acid was first determined using a remote alkalimetric titration with a newlinevisual indicator. The free acidity of the solution was calculated after newlinesubtracting the contribution due to hydrolysable ions from the total newlineacidity. The relative standard deviation and recovery of free acidity by this newlinemethod were lt1% and 100 ± 5%, respectively, for aliquots containing newlineuranium 0.5 15.9mg and plutonium 0.85 8.5mg. The nitric acid newlineconcentration of the aliquots was in the range of 0.092 10.56 M. Since no newline | |
