dc.description.abstractIndustrial wastewater treatment has attracted the attention of industries and researchers. newlineTextile effluents have been found to cause enormous health hazards both to human and newlineaquatic life. Semiconductor photocatalysts such as TiO2, ZnO, etc., and their newlinenanocomposites are found to be the potential candidates to degrade textile dyes. The use of newlinenanomaterials in the form of metal oxides (doped, un-doped), mixtures, and newlinenanocomposites in wastewater remediation and their photodegradation efficiency on newlinedifferent textile dyes are discussed. Effects of size, shape, structure, morphological newlinecharacters of nanomaterials, the influence of methods and solvents used during the newlinesynthesis of nanomaterials and the process parameters such as pH, temperature, initial dye newlineconcentration, mixing speed, etc., on photocatalytic efficiency for dyes degradation have newlinebeen reviewed. Avenues such as theoretical prediction of photocatalytic efficiency using newlinemathematical models and application of same in photocatalytic degradation process are newlineexpected to become vital components of photocatalytic processes and hence have been newlinehighlighted. Also, these computational techniques are expected to reduce the hindrance by newlinethe industries to accepting the photocatalytic processes as a part of wastewater remediation. newlineIn this direction, the Box-Behnken design (BBD) is used for the material (TiO2) modelling newlineto assess the MG dye degradation. newline
