Abstract
newline Identification and ranking of nutrient in plant parts such as root and leaves will aid in judiciary application of fertilizer. Nutrient sufficient plants are less prone to be affected by diseases caused by Bacteria, Virus or Fungus. The nutrient content in plants are subdivided into Macronutrient (Calcium (Ca), Potassium (K), Magnesium (Mg), Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S)) and Micronutrient (Boron (B), Chlorine (Cl), Copper (Cu), Ferrous (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo), Nickel (Ni) and Zinc (Zn)).
newlineConventional techniques are used to determine the plant nutrients. It possesses one or more drawback such as need for sample preparation, trained expert to perform the analysis, lack of in-situ multi-elemental analysis, non-capability to perform Remote measurement and time consuming process. A technique which can address the drawbacks specified above is Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique. LIBS method combined with Calibration free LIBS or Machine learning algorithm increases the measurement capability (Accurate, Precision, Quantitative) of the system.
