dc.description.abstractBackground newlinePsychological characteristics play a pivotal role in competitive success and prediction of high-potential athletes. Cricket is considered a mental game among elite level performers. newline newlineObjective newline1. To compare different variables among different levels of Pace bowlers and b+atsmen (District, State level and National level). newline2. To construct a profile chart of different variable among different levels of Pace bowlers and batsmen (District, State level and National level). newline newlineMaterial and Method newlineIn this study, 120 male subjects (60 Batsmen and 60 Pace bowlers) were selected from different level (District, State and National) of various sports academies/training centre of India. Big-Five Personality Inventory (BFI-44), Sate-trait anxiety inventory (STAI-40), Psychological performance inventory (PPI-42), Emotional intelligence (EI-50) was utilized to measure personality dimensions. One-way MANOVAs (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) were used to compare the difference among psychological variables at different levels of batsmen and pace bowlers. newline newlineConclusion newlineNational level pace bowlers exhibited greater agreeableness and openness whereas national level batsmen showed greater agreeableness, openness, extraversion, and conscientiousness as compared to inferior levels of participation. newlineState level pace bowlers showed high level and close to significant on state anxiety variable while national level batsmen showed greater state anxiety than district and state level batsmen. National level batsmen showed greater trait anxiety than other level batsmen. newlineNational level pace bowlers exhibited greater negative energy control, attentional control and motivational level whereas national level batsmen showed greater self confidence, negative energy control, visual/imagery control, and performance attitude control as compared to inferior levels of participation. newlineNational level pace bowlers showed a high level of managing emotions and empathy while national level batsmen showed greater self-awareness, managing emotions.
