Abstract
newline Human Resource Management is the systematic control of a network of interrelated
newlineprocesses affecting and involving all members of an organization. It is an approach based the
newlinefollowing four fundamental principles Human Resource Management (HRM) is the function
newlinewithin an organization that focuses on the recruitment of, management and providing direction
newlinefor the people who work in an organization. The Oil and Natural Gas Commission which was
newlinestarted on 14, August 1956, has emerged to the position of corporation, a full fledged public
newlinelimited company on 1, February 1994. It has the random sampling method since the researcher
newlineselects the sample of employees for studying with the structured questionnaire with different
newlinevariables. There are 1,110 employees are working in Cauvery Asset at Karaikal unit under
newlinevarious departments. 30 per cent employees of the study unit are selected as the sample
newlineemployees by using the proportionate random sampling technique.
newlineIn the present study, both primary as well as secondary data were used. The primary data
newlinewas collected from the 333 respondents in the study area. From the study the researcher has
newlineidentified that the HRM practices followed in the private industries in the study district are not up
newlineto the satisfaction of the employees. Hence, the management of the ONGC in the Karaikal asset
newlinemay consider the given suggestions to improve the HRM practices of their organizations to retain
newlinethe existing employees to achieve their goals
