| dc.description.abstract | The use of Global Navigational Satellite Systems (GNSS) in receivers newlinefor both civilian and military applications are more prevalent nowadays. newlineGNSS satellites send radio signals which are received by GNSS antennas and are newlinethen processed by the receivers to get the navigation information. These antennas newlineare available in variety of shapes, sizes and performances and are selected newlinebased on the application. Antenna covering frequency bands of GPS L1, newlineGLONASS and BDS with a miniaturized structure and right hand circular newlinepolarization is of extreme importance. For portable devices, patch antennas newlinewith slots provide a smaller visual profile for base station in case of navigational newlineapplications as well as in indoor environment. Various efforts have been newlinereported but with larger ground sizes and poor axial ratio bandwidths. A pi slotted newlinestructure is thus proposed for the intended bands. Also Internet of Things (IoT) is newlineagain a rapidly growing network, involving interconnection of variety of newlinewireless communication modules for localization and communication. newlineIn integrated simultaneous transmission mode of operation for Global newlinePositioning System (GPS) and mid-band 5G or WIMAX, dual polarization newlineat the receiver end is a requirement. A stacked antenna design is thus proposed for newlineIoT applications. Metamaterials (MM), the artificially engineered materials, newlineare also used for performance enhancement of miniaturized patch antennas in newlinediverse environments. Addition of MM superstrates to dumbbell slot patch newlineantenna design results in optimum performance in WIMAX and IoT applications newlineas a whole. Hence a miniaturized stacked antenna using MM is proposed for newlineimproving the effective antenna parameters. newline | |
