Due to their high strength-to-weight ratio, high wear resistance, low density and low thermal expansion coefficient, the use of aluminum magnesium silicide alloys has increased rapidly over the past few years, especially in the aerospace and automotive industries. The advances in the field of application make it of utmost importance to study their wear and tensile behavior. Aluminum-based alloys containing 4%, 8% and 12% magnesium silicide weight were synthesized using casting method in this study. Compositional analysis and tensile studies of various samples of the same composition showed almost uniform Mg2Si distribution in the prepared alloys. Microstructure analysis has shown primary magnesium silicide presence. Universal measuring machine was used to conduct tensile checks. With an increase in magnesium silicide percentage, yield strength and ultimate tensile strength has improved. Using computerized pin on disk wear testing machine, wear behavior was observed. Wear resistance has improved with an increase in the amount of magnesium silicide. Using scanning electron microscope, the worn surfaces were analyzed. Including accurate measurements, achieving good surface quality is also of utmost importance in any machining phase. A machining process involves many process parameters that affect the surface quality of the product directly or indirectly. The roughness of the surface and the waviness of the milling process are induced by various parameters of which feed, speed and cut depth are significant. Precise knowledge of these optimal parameters will help to reduce the machining costs and improve the product quality. In the past, extensive study was performed to optimize process parameters for the best product in any machining process newline
