Abstract

Now - a days, the Pilgrimage tourism is very popular in the world level. There are many number of religion s being followed by different groups of people in the world. India is the land of many religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Islam, Christianity and etc. There are many places in India considered to be holy by the people following different religions. Visiting religious places has been one of the earliest motivators of travel. A large number of people have been making the Pilgrimages to sacred religious places or holy centres. The practice is widespread in many parts of the world. A visit to Jerusalem or the Vatican is considered to be very auspicious in the Christian world. In the Arab - Muslim world, the Pilgrimage to Mecca is considered to be a great act of faith. While in India there are many Pilgrimage centre s and holy places of all the major religions of the world. Here a large number of Pilgrims come from all over the world. The four Mathas set up in four offside ends of India. They are Badrinath, Rameshvaram, Puri, and Dwarka. newline
