The proliferation of distributed systems in various domains has raised significant newlineconcerns regarding the security of data transmission and storage. Symmetric key newlineencryption is a fundamental technique for securing data in distributed systems, but the newlinemanagement and distribution of encryption keys present notable challenges. In this newlineresearch work, a secure and efficient symmetric key encryption technique is suggested newlinethat harnesses the simplicity of Vigenère cipher, strengthens its security by newlineincorporating randomness as a key factor and elevating it to a level comparable to newlinemodern encryption algorithms making it suitable for present day applications. The newlineVigenère cipher is a traditional polyalphabetic substitution technique known for its newlinesimplicity and historical significance. However, it suffers from vulnerability to newlinemodern cryptographic attacks due to its repeating key pattern. The proposed approach enhances plaintext security by introducing a Table of newlineConfusion, injecting randomness. Unlike traditional ciphers, it employs a randomized newlineapproach, creating multiple encryption tables for added complexity. Compared to newlineRC4, Salsa20, and AES, the proposed algorithm exhibits an impressive avalanche newlineeffect of over 50% in one million-bit sequences. Rigorous testing using NIST Test newlinesuite confirms its pseudo-randomness properties. Performance analysis, considering newlineencryption and decryption time as well as throughput, highlights its efficiency. newline newline newline
