dc.description.abstractThe increasing price of conventional diesel fuel, its deficiency, and the injurious outcome of combustion produced contaminants seem to make different sources more fascinating. The energy situation and the concerns about global warming nowadays have ignited research interest in non-conventional and alternative fuel resources to decrease the emission and the continuous dependency on fossil fuels, particularly for various sectors like power generation, transportation, and agriculture. Several biofuel varieties have been tried and tested by the researchers and the industry lately. However, Leucas Zeylanica Methyl Ester and Palm Kernel oil due to its economical nature, similarity with diesel s properties, and large scale availability have caught the limelight. The primary objective of this research is to implement blends of two different biodiesels i.e. leucas and palm kernel using two different additives, 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate and triacetin in different ratios for investigating engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics in a DI diesel engine which has the potential to emerge as an next generation alternative fuel. In this experimental study, 20% (by volume) two different biodiesel were combined with both plain diesel and additives in the required quantity to make eight different blends for further analysis. For the experiment the engine allowed to run for some time using plain diesel for warming up. After the warm up, the engine was again run by blends to record the performance and emission parameters with varying no load to full load conditions.
