A Petri Net Based Approach For Modeling And Simulation Of Energy Consumption In Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network is collection of geographically distributed self-governing sensor newlinenodes in the area of interest. These nodes once deployed often self-organise for monitoring newlinephysical and environmental conditions around them and communicate the information to newlinesink nodes wirelessly. Being different from wired networks, wireless sensor networks have newlinetheir own design constraints as they are mostly powered by batteries. So, energy is the newlinemajor design constraint for these networks. Energy conservation is the key to increasing newlinethe lifetime of a wireless sensor network and it cannot be achieved unless we focus on a newlinereliable and efficient technique for energy consumption evaluation. newline
