Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a prevalent hormonal disorder affecting the female reproductive endocrine system. Worldwide, many women of reproductive age experience PCOS. Due to unclear pathophysiology and complex aetiology, there is no complete cure, and conventional treatments such as hormone therapy and surgery may cause side effects. Therefore, alternative approaches are required. newlineThis study aimed to assess the impact of integrated yoga practices on polycystic ovarian syndrome among college girls in Chennai, South India. Sixty participants were selected, consent was obtained, and a questionnaire on menstrual irregularities and hyperandrogenism was administered. Self reported hirsutism and irregular menstruation were used to identify probable cases. In this two arm randomized controlled trial, sixty college-aged females with PCOS were randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. All probable cases underwent detailed examination and hormone estimation. newlineBoth groups received baseline tests, and metabolic and endocrine measures were compared after a 12 week intervention. Parameters included testosterone, LH, FSH, LH and FSH ratio, BMI, and anxiety. The intervention group received integrated yoga practices for one hour per day, five days a week, while the control group remained in active rest. Independent and paired t-tests were used, with the significance level set at 0.05. newlineThe results showed significant improvements in physiological, hormonal, and psychological variables in the intervention group compared to the control group. Integrated yogic practices can therefore support better health and quality of life in college girls with PCOS newline newline
