Abstract
The study covered the nutritional status and food habits of tribal adolescent girls of Betul district .The unit of study will be tribal and Non tribal adolescent girls of age 13-19 years of five villages from Betul District- Padhar, Sallaiya, Moredongri, Ranipur, Baretha. Number of respondents will be 250 of Tribal and 250 Non Tribal Adolescent Girls in numbers.
newlineThe data were collected from the Tribal and Non tribal adolescent girls using a pre-tested questionnaire specially designed for the purpose. The details collected involves information on the socio-demographic background including age, education and occupational status of the parents, monthly income, type of family, size of family and facilities available in the residential area.
newlineThe present work studies about transmission of childhood to adulthood with rapid growth and development is denoted as an Adolescence period. The nutritional requirement has increased in both macro and micronutrients. The excessive demand for nutrients and poor dietary practices in this stage leads to various nutritional deficiencies. Adolescence girls are vulnerable to nutritional deficiency due to their monarchical changes. The physical changes, especially regarding puberty, generate numerous problems to their health.
newlineAdolescent girls are isolated by various social customs followed by the rural and tribal community than urban region. A common feature of the tribal population of the country is their elite geographical and cultural habitat. The tribal population is generally deprived of the fundamental socio-demographic issues. The social isolation migration from the forest, and lack of essential amenities create various health problems. Adolescents appear to be poorly informed with their health as a consequence adolescent girl in tribal region are more vulnerable to nutritional deficiencies like anaemia, under nutrition, and reproductive-related health problems.
