dc.description.abstractnewlineABSTRACT newlineThis research focuses on establishing public healthcare centres in Adama City, Ethiopia, newlineimproving the existing medical system. There is substantial evidence that basic newlinehealthcare facilities in developing countries are not reaching the majority of the newlinepopulation due to inadequate geographical accessibility. Geospatial tools were used to newlineassess the spatial distribution and accessibility of healthcare centres in Adama City. In newlineArcGIS10.4, spatial and collateral data were used to examine service area-based newlineaccessibility. In addition, a case study was conducted to identify and prioritize potential newlineregions for to be developed healthcare centres utilizing Geographic Information System newline(GIS). In ArcGIS 10.4, location-allocation analysis is done using maps and tables. The newlinerequired field data was collected using GPS, and supplementary data was obtained from newlineAdama Municipality. When establishing the requirements for services-based location- newlineallocation, population density is the essential factor to consider. The suggested newlinehealthcare centres are identified based on the road network, current healthcare facilities, newlineand population. In addition, GIS analysis considers land use/cover classes, settlement newlinelocation, and proximity to existing healthcare services. According to the findings, newline256,700 individuals (64.50 percent) reside within a 2-kilometre radius of health centres, newlinewhereas 141,300 people (35.50 percent) live beyond the 2-kilometre radius. The newlinefindings reveal a large portion of the population (35.50 percent) remained unaided by newlineexisting health centres. As a result, the study identified eight potential sites in the city newlinethat may be developed as healthcare centres. The government can use the newlinerecommendations to plan infrastructure development to upgrade healthcare facilities newline newline newlineIII newline newlineAndhra University, Visakhapatnam newline newlinedepending on accessibility.
