Abstract
Incorporating Phase Change Material (PCM) into buildings for thermal energy management can significantly improve energy efficiency. Thermal energy management approaches based on environmentally friendly construction materials are regarded as one of the most practical systems. PCMs have the advantage of saving energy through latent heat and taking up less volume than other thermal storage construction materials. There are several methods for incorporating phase change materials into the building envelope. One of the most efficient methods of incorporating PCM is directly into the construction materials. This technique reduces cooling demand while improving the internal thermal properties of structures. A significant amount of research has been conducted into the potential use of PCMs in concrete and other building materials. The findings revealed that PCM-incorporated materials have a variety of beneficial properties, such as excellent thermal performance and latent heat storage. This study seeks to investigate the integration and influence of Phase Change Materials (PCMs) on the properties of concrete in wall panels. The methods for improving the thermal conductivity of a concrete wall panel include adding additives directly and encapsulating phase change materials. Compressive and flexural strength tests will be used to evaluate the mechanical properties of concrete and the performance of PCM integrated concrete wall panels. The compressive strength of concrete panels is the amount of force it can withstand before breaking, whereas the flexural strength test determines how well concrete panels resist bending. The goal is to determine the effect of phase change materials (PCMs) on thermal performance via heat conduction in wall panels at ambient temperature. Thermal performance will be determined by the amount of heat transferred through the wall panels during a hot day. Finding potential applications for PCM-integrated concrete wall panels in construction materials based on their performance can help increase the thermal storage capacity of buildings and, ultimately, maintain thermal comfort within them
