Abstract
Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) are considered as an ideal reinforcement to improve the properties of the Aluminium (Al) matrix composites. Even though there is a significant improvement in mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of Al-CNT composites, there are still several challenges to fabricate Al-CNT composites. The theoretical or expected properties of the composites could not be achieved because of poor dispersion of CNTs due to entanglement, high aspect ratio and Van der Waals force among them. At present, a lot of research work is being carried to achieve uniform dispersion of CNTs to get enhanced properties to meet demands of aerospace, automobile industrial applications and heat sinks used in electronic packaging. Still there are scopes to study further on techniques to disperse CNTs uniformly in Al matrix to achieve the expected properties
