newlineThe present thesis illustrates the blast loading and the fatigue loading analysis of RC
newlinemembers when subjected to cyclic loading and forces caused by explosives. Experiments
newlinewere conducted on steel specimens acquiring a tensile strength of 550N/mm2 with both
newlinelow and high cycle fatigue loading patterns and the cycles at the point of failure were
newlinerecorded with the given load and frequency conditions. The behaviour of multi-storied
newlinebuildings was studied by exposing them to fatigue loads using time history analysis. A
newlinesoftware analysis using ETABS 20 was done to analyse the structure and the behaviour
newlineof reinforced concrete members under various fatigue conditions and redesigned to
newlinewithstand the load applications.
newlineTo analyse the stability of a building, a study was conducted on different
newlineparameters viz; story drift, base shear, base reactions and story displacement. This was
newlinedone in two conditions. In the first condition, without any shear wall, responses were
newlinerecorded. In the second condition, shear wall responses were recorded. Apart from
newlinenatural calamity, numerous manufactured disasters are compelling structural engineers to
newlinecome up with more advancement in designing the structures. One of the most significant
newlinemanufactured disasters is growing terrorist attacks. To design blast-resistant buildings,
newlinedynamic loads must be considered as an essential parameter. This study aims to
newlineunderstand the design theories that safeguards structure design against the harmful effects
newlineof explosions. Firstly, different types of explosives are explained, and then the detailed
newlineprocess of a blast is illustrated for clarity on the behaviour of explosives on buildings;
newlinestudying the characteristics of an explosion will help to design blast-resistant structures in
newlinethe best possible manner using requisite knowledge.
