The present result entitled Phenotypic and Genetic Analysis of heat stress tolerance in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) was conducted at the Research Farm of ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research Kanpur (U. P.) during rabi 2019-20 and 2020-21 under three different cropping conditions i.e., Timely sown (TS), Late Sown (LS) and Very late Sown trials. Experiment was conducted on 113 diverse genotypes in augmented block design in 4 different blocks including five checks viz., DCP 92-3, ICC 1205, ICC 7110, ICC 15614 and JG 14. Data have been recorded on eighteen phenological traits viz., Days to flower initial, Days to 50% flowering, Days to pod initiation, Days to 50% podding, Days to maturity initiation, Daysto maturity,Plant height,Primarybranches/plant (PB); Biological yield/plant, Seed yield/plant, Plot yield, Biomass/plant, filled pod/plant, Unfilled pods/plant, Hundred seed weight, Harvest Index, Seeds/pod and nine meteorological traits. Data have been subjected to various statistical analysis according to present investigation need. Analysis of variance for almost all the morphological and meteorological traits under study reveals that significant amount of variability among the traits is present except for the trait seeds/pods, Phenothermal index of days to 50% flowering, podding and maturity. Study on genetic variability parameters exhibited that highest GCV and PCV have been observed for the traits primarybranchperplant(17.94,23.27and19.24inrabi2019-20;27.4,22.3and26.56inrabi newline2020-21,Table4.8and4.9),filledpodsperplant(34.43,30.78and26.87inrabi2919-20;23.7, newline25.5and 28.9inrabi 2020-21,Table4.8and4.9)andSeedyieldperplant (21.26,28.81and26.23 newlinein rabi 2019-20; 25.9, 23.8 and 26.38 in rabi 2020, Table 4.8 and 4.8 (g). while rest of the traits under study exhibited moderate to low percentage of GCV and PCV for all three separate trials (Timely sown (TS), Late sown (LS) and very late sown (VLS) conducted during rabi 2019-20 and 2020-21. These traits should be given due consideration while selection parent for high seed yield unde
