Abstract
Research has changed significantly over the past four decades. The
newlinechanging pattern of the research reflects developments in the intellectual
newlinethough that has created new academic disciplines and area of research.
newlineOne of the consequences of these changes has been broadening of the
newlinedefinition of information and sources useful to search. E-publication is
newlinethe publication of any kind of information on any form of electronic
newlinemedia.
newlineIn recent years, there have been a huge number of electronic resources
newlineavailable to libraries for their users to access. With the application of IT,
newlineparticularly Internet, there has been a shift in comparative growth from
newlinetraditional resources to electronic resources. Print resources refers to
newlineconventional print editions published and distributed as paper copies
newlinewhile online or E-resources include lots of things: full-text journals,
newlinenewspapers, company information, e-books, dictionaries, encyclopaedias,
newlineeconomic data, digital images, industry profiles, market research, etc.
newlineAdvances in IT applications during the past few decades have brought
newlineradical changes in the way information is gathered, store, organized,
newlineaccessed, retrieved and consumed. World Wide Web is nowadays
newlineinfluencing all types of scholarly communication and it crossed the
newlinelimitation of geographical boundaries and reached to the last people.
newlineThese development reduced the production and distribution of knowledge
newlineand make the information retrieval easy and fast. This is applicable to all
newlinemedia of communication including print and digital.
newlineNow many Institutes have to move towards digital e-resources, which are
newlinefound to be less expensive and more useful for easy access. This is
newlineviii
newlineespecially helpful to distant learners who have limited time to access the
newlinelibraries from outside by dial-up access to commonly available electronic
newlineresources, mainly OPACs and Internet, which are replacing the print
newlinemedia.
newlineThis research work, I have keep in mind the objectives to identify the
newlineavailability and awareness of various types of e-resources
