dc.description.abstractThe thesis presents a detailed subject of power conversion in wind energy newlineconversion system using matrix converter. The system consists of matrix newlineconverter, filter circuit and a wind emulator. This thesis discusses a method to newlineobtain a sinusoidal input current, bidirectional power flow and also to reduce newlinebulky reactive elements with the use of matrix converter. Here a permanent newlinemagnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is used and controlled with the help of a newlinematrix converter and space vector modulation technique. newlineThe matrix converter converts the high-frequency of a generator to a newlineconventional frequency of the utility system, based on a novel switching strategy. newlineThe system enables optimal speed tracking for maximum energy capture from the newlinewind and high performance. The main objective the research work is to derive a newlinepath way to effectively extract maximum power from the renewable energy newlinesources and to eliminate the drawbacks of induction generator, PMSG is being newlineused in this research. Recently many power converter topologies have come up for newlineintegrating wind generators with the grid. newlineTo overcome the problems existing in conventional converters, matrix newlineconverter can be utilized to transfer the power from generation stage to the grid; newlinethere by an AC-AC converter can transfer power from generator to the grid.The newlinedesign and test of the proposed system was done in MATALB/Simulink newlineenvironment and also a prototype of the proposed system is built. The hardware newlinetesting was done with the help of harmonic analyzer. newlineThis is novel matrix converter for Wind energy conversion system newlineprovides effective power conversion. The proposed system isdesigned to manage newlinethe flow of power between the wind power system and energy storage devices and newlinealso for energy distribution to remote areas. Hybridization of Solar and wind newlineenergy system is also done and the test results are obtained. newline
