Abstract
Aluminum-based composites have gained significant attention in recent
newlineyears due to their enhanced mechanical properties and wide range of
newlineapplications. From the literature, it is observed that the fabrication of SiC and
newlineB4C reinforced MMCs, for characterization and testing are carried out across
newlinethe world. Hybrid MMCs with different weight fraction of reinforcements (SiC
newlineand B4C) were fabricated by stir-casting method. Taguchi L27 orthogonal array
newlinewith ANOVA was used to optimize machining parameters. The mechanical
newlineproperties, such as hardness, tensile strength and wear resistance of the
newlinefabricated composites are measured and compared with those of the base
newlinematerial.
newlineIn this research work, the effects of SiC and B4C reinforcement to Al
newline7075 alloy on surface roughness and cutting force during milling are studied in
newlineterms of parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut to study
newlinetheir effects on the machining performance and surface integrity. Machining
newlineforces, roughness of the surface are evaluated to assess the machinability of the
newlinecomposites. Additionally, the microstructural studies of the machined surfaces
newlineare conducted using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to investigate the
newlinedeformation mechanisms and chip formation during the machining process.
