Abstract
Nanoparticles have wide applications in many fields from
newlineelectronics to biomedicine Their immense use may cause metal accumulation
newlinein the ecosystem as well as in food chain resulting in metal toxicity Thus the
newlinepresent study aimed at investigating the toxicity of nano scale SiO2 Al2O3
newlineZrO2 and TiO2 on different biological systems from bacteria to animal cell
newlineline and comparing their respective bulk micro level counterparts
newlineMicro particles of analytical reagent AR grade are obtained from
newlineLoba Chemie and Merck India SiO2 Al2O3 TiO2 and ZrO2 nanoparticles
newlineare synthesised from natural sources biomass rice husk bauxite illuminate
newlineand zircon sand employing different methods and are characterised using
newlinedifferent techniques Effect of the metal oxides on selected PGPR
newline Pseudomonas fluorescens Bacillus megaterium Bacillus brevis and
newlineAzotobacter vinelandii is analysed by performing susceptibility studies in
newlinesaline and water medium Disc diffusion method is employed to reveal their
newlinetoxicity towards PGPR In addition their effect on soil nutrient is studied
