Globalization and its resulting western cultural influences have been driving us to use many types of flowers on different occasions. Now it is rapidly becoming as an important agri-business venture in recent times. Gladiolus has gained very much importance as a commercial ornamental cut flower in world. It is famous for as Queen of bulbous flowers due to attractive shades and colour combination of petals, macules, showy flowering spike and long vase life. Gladiolus is a genus of perennial bulbous flowering plants belong to family Iridaceae and subfamily Ixioideae. Most member of genus are heteroploids having very small chromosomes ranging from 30 to 120 (diploid, triploid, tetraploid, pentaploid, hexaploid, octaploid and hyperaneauploid). newline
