Studies on Moringa Oleifera Accessions Evaluation of Growth Yield Phytochemical and Molecular Characterization

Abstract

Moringa oleifera is an ideal tree for semi-arid and drought-prone locations. Formerly, it was frequently found in backyard and kitchen gardens, where fresh leaves and pods were regularly picked for salads, soups, sauces, and curries. Due to its widespread industrial application and great customer appeal, it is now widely grown for truck gardens. Economic research in India has shown that farmers make a substantial profit from the commercial production of Moringa oleifera. The demand for the leaves, pods, flowers, and wood is rising, and each year the crop is finally expanded across many regions. newlineMoringa is a very nutritious crop, as it absorbs more vital minerals from the soil. Therefore, it is crucial to immediately refill the soil with nutrients using fertilizers. An increase in the usage of chemical fertilizers has the potential to seriously pollute the environment and deteriorate soil health. The Moringa growers have gradually shifted to organic farming methods in order to decrease the use of inorganic fertilizers, prevent the loss of soil health, increase shelf life, and improve quality. newlineAn important factor in determining the production and quality of Moringa is the proper combination of inorganic and organic fertilizers. To do this, creating and advising an efficient schedule for the application of fertilizers and organic manure requires an understanding of nutrient management. Information in this aspect is scanty due to limited researches. Hence, the current study was carried out over the course of two seasons to validate the findings on nutrient management in Moringa plantations. newlineCharacterizing and evaluating the germplasm to screen phenotypes and genotypes for direct use as superior germplasm selection or in subsequent breeding initiatives is a crucial step in crop development. Morphological characteristics are the main means of characterizing germplasm.
