Studies on population dynamics molecular characterization and eco friendly management of rugose spiralling whitefly Aleurodicus rugioperculatus Martin along with yield loss estimation in coconut Cocos nucifera L

Abstract

The present investigations on Studies on population dynamics, newlinemolecular characterization and eco-friendly management of Rugose newlineSpiralling Whitefly, Aleurodicus rugioperculatus Martin along with yield loss newlineestimation in coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) was carried out at Horticultural newlineResearch Station, Ambajipeta; S. K. P. P Horticultural Polytechnic college, newlineRamachandrapuram in East Godavari district and Kalavalapalli village plantations, newlineWest Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh during the years, 2020-22. newlineThe mean per cent palm infestation, incidence and intensity of RSW were newlinerecorded as 64.97, 60.13 and 66.69 per cent in East Godavari district, whereas newline88.06, 67.95 and 77.11 per cent in West Godavari district of AP during 2021. The newlinenatural enemies mainly predators viz., spiders, coccinellids, Apertochrysa astur newlineand parasitoid Encarsia guadeloupae were documented during the study. newlineAt HRS Ambajipeta, the per cent (%) yield loss was estimated to be 7.93 newlineand 26.67 per cent in Godavari Ganga hybrid with low and medium RSW newlineincidence, while comparatively greater yield loss of 31.27 per cent was recorded newlinein palms with high incidence. The yield loss (%) was recorded to be 6.61, 22.45 newlineand 27.59 per cent in East Coast Tall (ECT) palms with low, medium and high newlineRSW incidence. newlineSimilarly, at Kalavalapalli village, the per cent (%) yield loss in Godavari newlineGanga hybrid with low and medium RSW incidence was estimated to be 8.03 newlineand 27.64 per cent, while comparatively higher yield loss of 32.88 per cent was newlinerecorded in high incidence palms. The yield loss (%) was recorded to be 6.49, newline25.65 and 30.38 per cent in ECT palms with low, medium and high RSW newlineincidence. newlineIn RSW infested Godavari Ganga hybrid and ECT leaflets, biochemical newlinecharacters viz., total sugars (%), proteins, chlorophyll, moisture and crude fibre newlinewere decreased, whereas phenol and lignin contents were increased than that of newlinehealthy ones. newlineThe nitrogen levels were negatively and highly significantly correlated newlinewith per cent yield loss in Godavari G
