Abstract
In the recent development of the control and power electronics field,
newlinean SRM has drawn a significant role in industries. SRM drive has many
newlinebeneficial characteristics when comparing to those conservative sinusoidal
newlinemachines. For industry automation, SRM drives play a vital role as prominent
newlineelectrical drives. As SRM does not have rotor winding, and permanent magnets,
newlineits structure becomes simple, and it has many distinct characteristics such as
newlineminimized cost, robustness, high fault-tolerant capability, and it can be operated
newlineunder any sensitive environments. Electromagnetic torque is produced based on
newlinethe theory of variable reluctance. Nevertheless, the primary setback is the higher
newlinetorque ripple, which leads to severe acoustic noise and vibrations. Therefore, the
newlinestrategy of minimizing the torque ripple in SRM becomes a most contributive
newlineresearch in the field of industry.
newlineIn the modern era, two emerging technologies are in practice to
newlineenhance the average torque of the drive. One approach is to renovate the stator
newlineand rotor arrangement by developing the mechanical consideration of the motor,
newlinewhereas the next one is to exploit the robust control mechanism which is based
newlineon obtaining a suitable grouping of the Optimum Parameters. A proper current
newlinemodulation technique for the inverter is normally taken care of to minimize
newlinetorque ripple.
newlineFor many decades, Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers
newlinehave drawn more attention in industry automation due to their ease and
newlinerobustness. The parameters of the controllers are tuned by Evolutionary
newlinealgorithms like genetic algorithms. The performances are further improved by
newlineusing fractional order (Non-integer) controllers. In this work, a comparative
newlinestudy on soft computing techniques based torque ripple minimization and speed
newlinetracking of switched reluctance motor have been attempted
