Abstract
Indian retail sector have its two major branches i.e. organized retail sector and
newlineUnorganized retail sector. Both have their own features and operational methodology.
newlineOrganized retail sector has evolved recently in the form of big shopping malls, chain
newlinestores, large departmental stores, multi brand showrooms etc. They follow advanced
newlinemarketing strategies and modern managerial techniques. Rapid urbanization, radical
newlinechange in consumer buying behavior and aggressive advertisements has contributed the
newlinedevelopment of organized retail business. Primary and secondary data collection methods
newlineare used for this research work in order to collect maximum possible relevant data. As far
newlineas primary data is concern it is collected by the researcher with the help of structured
newlinequestionnaire. The responses obtained from the stakeholders thus consist first hand
newlineinformation which was further evaluated with the help of statistical analysis techniques.
newlineIn short the primary data collection was done by personally visiting unorganized retailers
newlineand businessman. The responses of 400 unorganized retailers are used for sample survey.
newlineThe operational scope of this study is limited to the Latur district only, in order to
newlinecollect data for this research activity the limitation of 10 years is considered for
newlinesecondary data collection and 5 years for the primary data collection purpose. This study
newlinedeals with the four major segments of unorganized retail units considered for this study
newlinesuch as Grocery Merchants, Fruits and Vegetable sellers, Foot ware sellers and Cloth
newlinesellers
