Comparision of effects of three different vanga bhasma preparations on antimicrobial Activity an in vitro study

Abstract

Rasashastra is a science which deals with i.e. iatrogenic alchemy as well as newlinemercury based preparations. This branch of Ayurveda Chikitsa has been a boon to newlinemankind since time immemorial. This science stands for the proper identification, newlinecollection, preservation and standardization of the drugs. It is studied into newlinedifferent categories of the groups like Maharasa, Uparasa, Sadharana Rasa, newlineDhatu, Upadhatu, Ratna, Uparatna, Vishopavisha etc. undergo the procedures newlinelike Shodhan, Maran, Amrutikarana, Lohitikarana, Satvapatana etc. The outcome newlineof these procedures offers a therapeutically effective product which is used for the newlinebenefit of mankind. newline Various Dhatus (metals) are described in the ancient texts of Rasashastra viz. newlineSuvarna, Rajata, Tamra, Lauha, Naga, Vanga, Yashada, etc[1]. Among these Vanga newline(Tin-Sn) is a well known metal to Indians since the Vedic ages while Vanga Bhasma newline(VB) is described since Samhita period. In Rasagranthas it is included in the category newlineof Puti-Loha (a group of metals emitting foul smell during processing)[1] newline.
