Abstract
The main objective of this research work is to design and develop a
newlineCancelable Multimodal Biometric based Secured Authentication System
newlineCMBSAS for hierarchically clustered Mobile Ad hoc Network MANET
newlineenvironment which needs high security Our CMBSAS provides different
newlinesecurity services such as data confidentiality sender authentication and
newlinereceiver authorization using different biometric modalities Additionally
newlinemessage integrity cryptographic key revocability and biometric privacy are
newlinealso provided using various algorithms in our system This thesis also
newlineanalyses the performance of our system using various performance metrics
newlineand implementing it in a MANET environment to prove that our system is
newlinemore efficient than other systems
newlineWith the rapid evolution of wireless technologies the reliance of
newlineMANETs to carry mission critical information is rapidly growing and it leads
newlineto the development of many security systems This is especially important in a
newlinescenario where strategic and tactical information is sent Therefore the ability
newlineto achieve a highly secure authentication has become more essential in
newlineapplications which need high security The ultimate goal of a security solution
newlineof MANET is to provide security services such as authentication,
newlineauthorization confidentiality integrity and availability to the mobile users
newlineDue to the overhead present in the traditional algorithms such as key
newlinedistribution problem they are not suitable for an ad hoc environment which
newlinehas low processing power and limited battery power Also these algorithms
newlineare not sufficient for more delicate and complex applications
