Students are introduced to the advanced level of the language acquisition process through Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Vocabulary and Grammar. For an enriched language, it becomes mandatory for the students to use the right vocabulary in the right context. For this, knowledge of wide usage of vocabulary is a must for the students. The present study discusses the acquisition of technical vocabulary of engineering students through verbal and picture-based activities. Knowledge of vocabulary impacts all forms of discourses positively. It enables the producer to produce language conveniently so that the readers or listeners understand precisely what is intended. There are different kinds of vocabulary of which technical vocabulary forms an essential element for engineering students during graduation and also after graduation in their career. Technical vocabulary could be generally defined as the group of words that are used straightforwardly in a particular context or by a particular professional community of people. However, in this study, technical vocabulary is defined as the group of words used in different domains in engineering and technology. The current study addresses the needs of the technical students in the process of acquiring technical vocabulary and the retention of the acquired vocabulary in their long-term memory through the picture-based and combination of verbal activities. The role of technical vocabulary is significant in almost all the fields of science and technology for understanding the concepts and communicating professionally. Acquisition of technical vocabulary is a significant process equal to the retention and usage of that acquired vocabulary in the active learning process. newline
