dc.description.abstractnewline Activated carbon is having large surface area which is the reason for the process adsorption. Adsorption is generally preferred as a best technique for the removal of dyes and acids. The process adsorption is one of the most effective, technically-simple, easy to operate and cost-effective wastewater treatment technique. Leaf-based materials (raw or activated forms) have received globally increased attention, because they are cost effective, easily available in almost all regions of the world and requires few stages of preparation. In addition, the leaf-based materials of different trees contain a variety of inorganic and organic compounds, such as cellulose, hemicelluloses, pectin, lignin etc. These compounds have in their composition various functional groups, such as hydroxyl, carboxyl, carbonyl, amino and nitro groups, which may be enhances the process of adsorption. Researchers focused on the preparation of activated carbons from various agricultural waste materials but synthesis and characterization of leaf based carbons were scarcely reported in the open literature. So the present study focused on the synthesis and characterization of various activated carbons and its adsorption studies from the leaf based carbons. The present investigation entitled Study of Adsorption Using Plant-Based Activated Carbon has been discussed in six chapters.
