Abstract

The most abundant renewable source of energy on the earth is solar energy, yet its potential has not been exploited efficiently by solar cells present in the market. Affordability of solar energy can be enhanced, either by increasing the efficiency of a solar cell or by reducing its cost. Crystalline silicon has maximum market share when compared with various other upcoming technologies, but it has a major challenge in terms of limited efficiency and high cost. Therefore, an alternative material i.e., lead sulfide colloidal quantum dot (PbS CQD) has been investigated thoroughly in this work, to make a small step forward in the search for a reduced-cost photovoltaic application. newline
