Abstract
The doctoral research Challenges of Library Practitioners and LIS Education in
newlineIndia: A Study of LIS Curriculum investigates the domain of Library and
newlineInformation Science (LIS) education in India, meticulously scrutinizing the challenges
newlineencountered by library practitioners and the curriculum designed to shape the future
newlineinformation professionals. The study aims to achieve several objectives such as
newlinescrutinizing the present status of curriculum, infrastructure, and manpower resources
newlinein LIS schools across India. Evaluating the relevance of the LIS curriculum in
newlinepreparing professionals for emerging trends and technological advancements,
newlineanalyzing the efficacy of teaching methods in imparting both theoretical knowledge
newlineand practical skills during the professional course. Assessing the extent to which
newlineknowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired during professional studies are applied in the
newlineday-to-day job careers by LIS professionals.
newlineThe study covers the primary data obtained from 500 practicing LIS professionals
newlineworking in different sectors, such as academic institutions at different levels, R and D
newlineorganisations, industries, corporates, Government departments, NGOs, etc., and from
