dc.description.abstractAn investigation entitled, Economics and Marketing Strategies of Vegetable Production for Increasing Farmers Income was conducted in Jammu districts of JandK UT. From this district 50 per cent blocks were selected purposively on basis of highest area under vegetable crops. From each block, two villages were selected randomly. Further, from each village 12 farmers/respondents were also selected randomly to constitute a sample size of 240 farmers in total. The primary data on resource structure, cost and returns, demand-supply were collected by interviewing the vegetable growers directly through pre tested schedule while secondary data were used to work out the arrivals and prices of vegetables in Narwal Mandi. For computing cost and returns the concept framed by CACP was used like cost A, B and C while for forecasting arrivals and prices of vegetables in Narwal Mandi the forecasting model like Multiplicative and Additive models were used. The results related to resource structure revealed that the average value of fixed resources was found to be highest in tractor `193542 per household in Jammu district. The value of fixed resource was found to be highest in Marh block(`687500) followed by Arnia block (`251666 per household) with least in Pargwal block (`56250 per household) and the value of livestock resource was found to be highest(`35708.4 per household) in Arnia block followed by Mandal phallain block (`32541.73 per household) with least (`2229 per household) in Mathwar block. Results related to cost and returns revealed that per hectare cost of cultivation for vegetable was worked out in Arnia block highest net return as well as benefit cost ratio were found in tomato ` 137655. Bishna block benefit cost ratio was highest in Reddish (1:2.39) followed by potato (1:2.28) in Khour block total cost of cultivation was highest in cucumber with `55576.03/ha and lowest in knol khol with `48366.17/ha.
