Synthetic investigations in azetidin 2 ones azetidine 2 4 diones via chemical transformations

Abstract

The present thesis reports the design, synthesis, and characterization of azetidin-2-ones, azetidine-2,4-diones, and related derivatives, highlighting their antimicrobial, antioxidant, and cytotoxic activities. Innovative methodologies were developed to overcome limitations like reliance on prefunctionalized substrates and costly catalysts. The work includes the synthesis of functionalized scaffolds such as cis-3-aroyl-urea-azetidin-2-ones, and#946;-isothiocyanato sulfides, and and#946;-thiosemicarbazide/thiosemicarbazone derivatives. Biological evaluation, SAR studies, and in-silico analyses (docking and ADME) supported their therapeutic potential. This study contributes to expanding the synthetic and biomedical applications of strained heterocycles. newline
