Abstract

The present study is an attempt to add some new dimensions to the traditional methods of debt recovery which are grossly inadequate to achieve effective debt realization. The traditional methods are prone to use legal mechanism and if fail, use the write off alternative. No element of emotion is involved. This study evaluates various aspects of EE-SPADR (Empowered Employees Social Pressure Approach to Debt Recovery) developed at BSNL Indore. The EE-SPADR was a huge success and adopted by BSNL on Pan India basis. The results of this study will help other PSUs in liquidating their dues through adapting this method to suit their requirement. CHAPTER ONE is an introductory chapter divided into seven sections. The first introduces to evolution of PSUs in India. The second section discusses constraining factors for PSU s satisfactory performance followed by the section three describing practices in Telecom Industry in India. The section four describes the situation in case of BSNL followed by details of EE-SPADR experiment at BSNL Indore in section 5. Section six defines the Research Problem and section 7 describes the components of EE-SPADR or the concepts used in developing EE-SPADR. CHAPTER TWO presents literature review. The literature review basically explores the debt recovery practices in different parts of the world, India and in different industries. It also discusses major philosophies in Debt Management. It also highlights the areas in which Research has not been done and how EE-SPADR developed at BSNL Indore fills the gap. It also studies and discusses literature on Indian Ethics, Empowerment and Social Pressure which are the new dimensions of Debt Recovery Management incorporated in EE-SPADR. newline
