| dc.description.abstract | Purpose/ Aim: To examine the prevalence of Childhood Trauma (CT) among nursing newlinestudents and to assess the effectiveness of Resilience training (RT) on the mental newlinehealth consequences of CT. newlineMethodology: This research was done in the nursing colleges in the Ludhiana district newlineof Punjab. To determine the prevalence of CT, 1326 nursing students were newlineconveniently screened. Out of 1326 students, 861 students (65%) retrospectively newlinereported the presence of CT. Consequently, these students were further screened for newlinedepression, anxiety, FOH, and DA. A true experimental design was used to assess the newlineeffectiveness of RT. A battery of research tools was used; CTQ, CD-RISC, PHQ-9, newlineZung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, FOH Scale, and Dysfunctional Attitude Scale-Short newlineForm. newline newlineFindings: A significant portion (65%) of the nursing students reported having newlineexperienced CT. Among the five categories of trauma assessed, emotional neglect newlinewas the most prevalent. There was an inverse relationship between resilience and the newlineCT score., The prevalence rates for depression, anxiety, FOH, and DA among these newlinestudents were 81%, 78%, 43%, and 87% respectively. Resilience training proved to be newlinestatistically effective in enhancing resilience scores and thereby reducing levels of newlinedepression, anxiety, FOH, and DA. Moreover, resilience was negatively correlated newlinewith all the outcome variables of CT. Improved resilience scores after resilience newlinetraining had a positive influence on the outcome variables of CT. newline | |
