dc.description.abstractThe present study entitled Impact Assessment of National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) interventions in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir . The present study was conducted in Samba district of Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir which has been selected purposively because it consists of NICRA villages having strategic research component. A sample of 240 farmers were selected, 120 NICRA through purposive sampling and 120 non-NICRA farmers through random sampling. The study was based on both primary and secondary data. Various mathematical, statistical and econometrics tools were extensively used for the analysis of the data. The gross returns of wheat cultivation in NICRA Villages was Rs. 58,709/ha, which was significantly high returns compared to Rs. 47862/ha in non-NICRA villages. The cost of production per quintal was lower in NICRA villages was Rs. 1814/qtlcompared to non-NICRA villages was 2284/qtl reflecting improved efficiency under the NICRA program. Thekey cost drivers like fertilizer, labour cost are significantly lower than the non-NICRA villages. NICRA villages report higher gross returns of Maize and#8377;49,217/ha compared to and#8377;42,984/ha in non-NICRA villages, reflecting better yields and productivity under the NICRA program. The Cost of Production per quintal of Maize is lower in NICRA villages (and#8377;1,248/qtl) compared to non-NICRA villages (and#8377;1,685/qtl), emphasizing the cost efficiency of climate-smart practices. The NICRA villages showed a substantial gross return of blackgram of and#8377;48,840/ha, far exceeding the total cost and suggesting profitability.TheGross Returns of chickpea was and#8377;30,572/ha, highlighted the increased profitability from intercropping systems supported by NICRA. The cost of production per quintal of chickpea was and#8377;4,080/qtl, reflected lower input costs due to more efficient farming practices under NICRA.These findings highlighted the positive impact of the NICRA project on improving agricultural productivity and cost-efficiency, demonstrating its role in promoting climate
