Studies on characterisation of sansevieria cylindrica fibres and mechanical properties of sansevieria cylindrica polyester composites

Abstract

Global energy crisis and environmental pollution have compelled newlinethe scientists and engineers to develop alternative materials The composite newlinematerials play a vital role as a substitute for the conventional materials In newlineparticular composites with natural fibre reinforcement will be environmental newlinefriendly In this work the locally available Sansevieria cylindrica fibre SCF is identified as a new natural fibre reinforcement The fibre is extracted from newlinethe leaves of Sansevieria cylindrica plant by a mechanical process called newlinedecortication The current research has established the fact that SCFs have newlinenot been characterised and it have not been utilised as reinforcement in newlinecomposite materials until today An attempt has been made to study the newlinecharacteristics of SCFs and SCFpolyester SCFP composites newline newline
