With the improvement of high-rise buildings, as well as of large-span newlineand large-scale engineering projects, more and more high-performance structural newlineconcrete is required in the construction industry to cope with complicate and newlinediverse engineering demands. A significant amount of recent research has newlinefocused on high strength, high-toughness, light-weight and economic friendly newlineconcrete materials. Among them, the Structural Light Weight Concrete (SLWC) newlineuses high-strength lightweight aggregate instead of natural stone; this change of newlineraw material makes it different from ordinary concrete in many aspects: its newlinedensity is below 2000 kg/m3 while that of Normal Concrete (NC) is 2400 kg/m3; newlinebesides, compared to NC, its strength/weight ratio is higher. SLWC has newlinenumerous advantages over NC. For instance, it reduces the dead weight of the newlinestructural members; it saves the self-weight for structural design and foundation; newlineit newlinelowers the risk of earthquake damage to a structure; it shows good newlineperformance over tensile strain capacity and it has low coefficient of thermal newlineexpansion and better durability characteristics. However, the higher brittleness newlineand lower mechanical properties of SLWC compared to NC at the same newlinecompressive strength have minimized its application in construction. Various newlinefibers are often used to reduce the brittleness of concrete (Tanyildizi 2008 and newlineYasar et al. 2003). Fiber Reinforced Light Weight Concrete (F R L W C) is a newlinecomposite material developed to reduce the brittleness of concrete and increase newlinethe mechanical properties of concrete. This research work aims at investigating newlinethe mechanical properties of Light Weight Concrete (LWC) incorporating newlinedifferent types of fibers. The main objective of this investigation is to assess the newlinestructural performance of Fiber Reinforced Light Weight Concrete. newline
