Abstract
We present a relativistic light-front quark model to study the hadronic properties of the
newlinepseudoscalar and vector B mesons. B mesons are the only mesons containing quarks
newlineof the third generation and thus their decays provide a unique opportunity to measure
newlinethe CKM matrix elements and to test CP violation in the Standard Model. The theoretical
newlineanalysis of CP violating effects in rare B decays requires knowledge of the transition
newlineform factors. Also, the quark distribution amplitudes of heavy mesons provide an understanding
newlineof the decay constants that are considered as the direct source of information
newlineon the CKM matrix elements.
newlineWe investigate the mass spectra, decay constants and the twist-2 DAs of pseudoscalar
newlineand vector light (and#960;, K) and heavy (D, Ds, B, Bs) mesons within the framework of LFQM.
newlineWe constraint our LFQM by the variational principle to the QCD-motivated effective
newlineHamiltonian with the exponential-type confining potential plus the Coulomb potential
newlineand the hyperfine interaction. We use a Gaussian smearing function to weaken the singularity
newlineof the Dirac and#948; function in the hyperfine interaction so as to avoid the issue of
newlinenegative infinity. We calculate the mass spectra of the ground state pseudoscalar and vector
newlinelight and heavy mesons as well as their corresponding decay constants by fixing the
newlinemodel parameters in the exponential-type confining potential. The fixation of the model
newlineparameters is achieved by utilizing the mixed wave function and#934; of 1S, 2S and 3S HO
newlinestates. We also compare our results with the available experimental data and the other
newlinetheoretical model predictions. We note that our LFQM predictions are comparable to each
newlineother regardless of the confining potential type as far as the efficacy of model prediction
newlineis achieved by allowing the sufficient number of HO basis functions for the t
