Abstract
Ethanol is a bio based renewable and oxygenated fuel with a
newlinepromising potential to reduce the particulate emission in diesel engine and to
newlinereduce the life cycle of CO2 with reduction in ozone depletion There are
newlineseveral studies which report improvement in the engine performance and
newlineemission by using ethanol blend fuels This motivates us to use aquanol as
newlinesole fuel in diesel engine Even lot of researches completed in the area of ethanol as alternate
newlinefuel, the commercialization of this fuel is not achieved in the Indian
newlineautomobile scenario It is mainly because of installing the refilling stations
newlineand the problems encountered in the engine while ethanol is used as a fuel
newlineThe main problems associated with the aquanol usage in engines include the
newlinealdehyde emission and the corrosion of engine components
newlineThis work aims to overcome these problems and recommend the
newlinepossible solutions In India large amount of ethanol is produced from the
newlinesugar cane by fermentation process
