Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study to identify effect of leadership styles on job satisfaction among the
newlinenursing professionals of selected hospitals in Mumbai.
newlineObjectives: The objectives of research study were 1) To identify the leadership styles followed
newlineamong nursing professionals of selected hospitals in Mumbai. 2) To assess job satisfaction levels
newlineamong nursing professionals of selected hospitals in Mumbai. 3) To determine the effect of
newlineleadership styles on job satisfaction among nursing professionals of selected hospitals in
newlineMumbai. 4) To determine association of the effect of demographic variables on job satisfaction
newlineand leadership styles respectively among nursing professionals of selected hospitals in Mumbai.
newlineMaterial and Methods: The researched adopted the quantitative non-experimental
newlineresearchapproach and the descriptive research design in which investigator evaluate effect of
newlineleadership styles on job satisfaction among nursing professionals of selected hospitals in
newlineMumbai. The sample comprised of 500 nursing professionals including nursing leaders (117)
newlineand staff nurses (383). Sample was selected by using non probability, convenient sampling
newlinetechnique was used. Data were collected with the help of Multifactor leadership questionnaire,
newlineMinnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and self-reporting technique. Data were analyzed using
newlinedescriptive and inferential statistics. In that, chi-square test for association of leadership style and
newlinejob satisfaction of staff nurses with their demographic variables.
newlineResult: The results of this study showed that, staff nurse majority of 58.22% of respondents
newlinebelongs to transformational leadership style followed by 33% belongs to Transactional
newlineleadership style and 9.13% belongs to Laissez-Fair Leadership style. In nursing leader s majority
newlineof 60.68% respondent belongs to transformation leadership followed by 28.20% respondents
newlinebelongs to transactional leadership and 11.11% belongs to laissez-fair leadership style. Among
