Abstract
Shape Representation is the basis for shape related processing and
newlineanalysis such as shape matching and recognition tasks The two major shape
newlinerepresentation techniques are boundary based and region based techniques
newlineThe first one analyzes shapes with the help of boundaries In contrast region
newlinebased techniques represent the shapes based on the objects geometrical
newlinestructure In this thesis a task of decomposing a shape image is taken and
newlinetechniques to decompose the given shape effectively are proposed The prime
newlineaim of this thesis is to develop techniques to represent objects in images The
newlinemost important issues of shape decomposition are considered to be the
newlinesimplification of algorithm minimizing redundancy in representation and
newlinereduction in time Mathematical morphology is an approach to image analysis that is
