Six imidazolium gemini surfactants were synthesized having different terminal newlinelength with same spacer. These surfactants were characterized to check the number and newlinetype of protons by 1H-NMR, type of carbon atoms by 13C-NMR, molecular weight newlinedetermination by ESI-MS, interactions and structural determination by FTIR and thermal newlinestability of the compounds by TGA. The conductivity, density, viscosity and surface newlinetension of synthesized compounds have been checked at four temperatures i.e. 288.15K, newline293.15K, 298.15K and 303.15K in water. The conductivity results indicated that gemini newlinesurfactants behave as weak electrolytes. The thermodynamic parameters have confirmed newlinethat micellization is more favourable than dissociation process. The density and viscosity newlinedata using different well-known equations confirmed that there are noteworthy newlineinteractions between surfactants and water molecules. Critical Micellar Concentration newline(CMC), affinity to reduce surface tension (CMC/C20), effectiveness of surface tension newlinereduction (and#960;CMC), adsorption efficiency (pC20) etc. have indicated that synthesized newlineimidazolium gemini surfactants are good candidates to lower the surface tension at newlineair/water interface and having tendency to form micelles in bulk solution after CMC. The newlinethermogravimetric analysis (TGA) has indicated that these surfactants are thermally newlinestable upto 330and#8451; and activation energy for thermal decomposition was found in the newlinerange of 11.35-30.51kJ/mol. Moreover, antimicrobial activities have also been checked newlinewith gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria and fungi. These synthesized newlinecompounds showed good results against bacteria. newline
